4 Inch Brass Tortoise Family Statue

Three tortoises ride one on top of the other, each a little smaller than the one below. That stack is the first thing everyone notices in this 4 inch brass tortoise family statue.

The big tortoise at the bottom stretches its long neck out and lifts its head high, holding a coin in its mouth, its neck marked with rings. Its shell is wide, with a border of small squares and rows of round patterns on the dome. The middle one climbs on top with its head turned out to one side and its front feet gripping the shell below. The little one sits right at the top, head up and looking ahead. All three shells are carved in the same style, so the family looks like it belongs together. Under them, the base is shaped like rough rocks, and you can see the big tortoise’s feet resting on it.

It is cast in brass and finished by hand with chisel work. At about 1.8 kg it is heavy for its size, so it will not slide off a desk or a shelf. It is about 7.1 inch long, so give it a little space from end to end.

How do I clean and care for my murti?

Brass: wipe gently with a soft, dry cotton cloth. Avoid water, lemon and chemical polish. Brass slowly develops a warm patina over time; this is natural.

Stone: dust with a soft dry cloth, or a slightly damp cloth if needed, and let it dry fully. Avoid acidic cleaners, soaps and harsh chemicals. Handle with care and place it on a stable, flat surface, as stone can chip if it falls.
