On Tuesdays and Hanuman Jayanti
Place him on a clean red or orange cloth, light a diya of ghee or mustard oil in front, and offer sindoor and a few flowers at his feet. Many families read the Hanuman Chalisa together. Since he is brass, wipe off sindoor and oil the same day so they do not leave marks.
What you see
Hanuman ji stands straight with both hands joined in namaste, the pose of a devotee at prayer. His gada rests in the bend of his arm and leans on his shoulder. He wears a tall crown with a round halo, a tilak on his forehead, and a cloth that hangs down from both arms in long folds. Turn him around and you will see his tail rising up his back. He stands on a lotus-shaped base. It is cast in brass and then finished by hand with chisel work.
