Ganesh Idols

Ganesh idol for home mandir, office or entrance: brass and stone pieces, seated, standing, dancing, with Laxmi, on a jhula, urli or wall plate.

Ganesh Idol for Home, Pooja and Gifting

Ganesh ji is the first one we pray to before any new start, so most homes have at least one Ganesh idol. This page brings together more than 200 Ganesh pieces from our shop, from tiny ones for a car dashboard to big statues for a temple hall. Each brass piece is cast and then finished by hand with chisel work, so the trunk, the crown and the jewellery stay sharp.

What you will find here

  • Seated Ganesh: on a lotus, on a throne or on a small chowki, mostly with four hands and his mouse at his feet.
  • Standing and dancing Ganesh: for people who want a lively pose.
  • Ganesh with Laxmi, and with Laxmi and Saraswati: pairs and sets for Diwali pooja. See also our Laxmi idols and Saraswati idols.
  • Wall hanging Ganesh: plates, faces and fan shapes for the main door, like this 10 inch fan wall hanging.
  • Ganesh on useful pieces: urlis for water and flowers (more in Urli), bells, kalash, jhula swings and small bullock carts, some with coloured stone work.
  • Stone Ganesh: a few pink stone and green stone murtis, including Panchmukhi forms.

Sizes

Heights go from 2.5 inch to 34 inch. As a rough guide, 3 to 6 inch suits a car, a desk or a small shelf; 7 to 12 inch suits a home mandir; 13 inch and above suits a big pooja room, an office reception or a temple. The exact height, width and weight are written on every product page, so you can measure your space first.

How to choose

Start with the place. Measure the shelf or mandir, and leave a little space above the crown. Then choose the pose your family likes. Most homes keep a seated Ganesh with his trunk turned to his left. If you want him at the door, a wall hanging or an urli works well. For a gift at a griha pravesh or a new shop, a small seated idol or a Ganesh Laxmi pair is always welcome.

Care

Wipe brass with a soft dry cloth. After abhishekam, dry it fully the same day. Do not wash stone work pieces in water; dust them with a soft brush. Our guide on how to clean brass idols at home has more tips.

Questions buyers ask

Which way should Ganesh ji's trunk turn for home?

Many families prefer the trunk turned to his left for the home. A trunk turned to his right is often kept in temples with strict daily pooja. Follow your family's practice.

Which direction should the idol face?

When you choose a ganesh idol for pooja, many people keep Ganesh ji in the north east corner of the room, but the most important thing is a clean, respectful place.

Is a brass ganesh statue good for daily pooja?

Yes. Brass is strong, it does not break if it slips, and it handles water and milk abhishekam well if you dry it after.

Can I keep two Ganesh idols in one mandir?

Many homes keep one main idol for pooja. A Ganesh at the door or on the wall is fine as well.

Are the stone idols heavy?

Stone pieces are heavier than brass pieces of the same height. Check the weight on each product page before you order.
