Brass Vishnu Murti

Brass Vishnu murti for pooja: Vishnu on Sheshnag, standing Narayan, Dashavatar, Vishwaroopam, Sudarshana and Balaji forms, plus a few pink stone pieces.

Brass Vishnu Murti for Pooja

Lord Vishnu takes many forms, and this page keeps the brass ones in one place: resting on Sheshnag, standing with chakra and shankh, as Dashavatar, and as Tirupati Balaji. It is a narrower page than our main Vishnu and Narayan Idols page, so use whichever is easier for you.

The forms here

  • Vishnu on Sheshnag: Narayan resting on the coils of the snake, some with Laxmi Maa at his feet, like this 5.7 inch murti.
  • Standing Narayan: with chakra and shankh in the upper hands, some under the hood of Sheshnag, like this 17 inch Vishnu murti.
  • Dashavatar: the ten avatars around Vishnu, in idols, small boxes and wall pieces.
  • Vishwaroopam and Sudarshana: special forms for devotees of these deities.
  • Tirupati Balaji: about 54 of the pieces here are Balaji in golden brass or black lacquer coating, standing or as wall hangings. The full range is on the Tirupati Balaji page.

A few non-brass pieces are listed too: a pink stone standing Vishnu and a Dashavatara pattachitra painting.

Small shelf or big temple

Sizes go from 3 inch to 69 inch. A 3 to 6 inch murti fits a small mandir shelf or a travel box. Most home mandirs take 9 to 18 inch. Pieces of 24 inch and more are made for temples, big pooja rooms and halls, and need two or more people to move.

Choosing the right form

For daily pooja and Ekadashi, many families keep Vishnu on Sheshnag with Laxmi Maa. For Satyanarayan katha, a standing Narayan is a common choice. For South Indian homes and Saturday pooja, Balaji is the usual form. Dashavatar pieces suit a family that wants all ten avatars in one murti.

Caring for the murti

Wipe off chandan and water after pooja with a soft cloth. Plain brass can be cleaned with lemon and water now and then. For black lacquer coating, use only a dry cloth. See how to clean brass idols at home.

Questions buyers ask

Is Narayan the same as Vishnu?

Yes. Narayan is one of the names of Lord Vishnu, so a Narayan murti is a Vishnu murti.

Is Tirupati Balaji a form of Vishnu?

Yes. Balaji, also called Venkateswara or Srinivasa, is believed to be Vishnu in the Kali Yuga.

Which Vishnu form suits a home mandir?

Vishnu with Laxmi on Sheshnag or a standing Narayan are the most common at home.

Are these solid brass?

The brass pieces are cast in brass and finished by hand with chisel work. The pink stone murti and the painting are marked in their names.

Bring home the form of Narayan your family calls on, and let every Ekadashi begin in front of him.
