Brass Animal Statue for Home, Mandir and Gifts
Animals have a special place in Indian homes. The elephant at the door, the cow with her calf in the mandir, Nandi sitting before Shiva, a running horse on the office table. This page brings all our brass animal pieces together, so you can see the forms side by side and choose by size, meaning and space.
Animals you will find here
- Elephants: about thirty pieces, the biggest group. Trunk up elephants with a carved jhool, pairs for the entrance and small ones for a desk, like our 8 inch royal brass elephant with trunk up.
- Kamdhenu cow and calf: close to twenty pieces, from small idols to wall hangings, like the 8 inch Kamdhenu cow and calf idol. See all of them in Kamdhenu.
- Nandi: around fifteen sitting Nandi statues for Shiva mandirs, like the 8 inch sitting Nandi. More in Nandi.
- Horses: running horses, a horse family and a mother with her foal, like the 11 inch horse family statue.
- Bulls, a lion and peacock pieces: a few pieces for those who want something different.
Small, medium or big
The smallest pieces start at 2.3 inch and suit a work desk, a car or a return gift. Pieces between 6 and 12 inch fit side tables, shelves and the home mandir. The biggest go up to 44 inch and stand on the floor at an entrance or in a hall. Every product page lists the exact height and weight.
Choosing by meaning and place
An elephant with its trunk up is believed to bring good luck and is often kept facing the main door. Kamdhenu is believed to bring plenty and is kept in the mandir or near the kitchen. Nandi sits facing the Shivling. Horses suit an office or study, as many people link them with speed and success. For more brass pieces for walls and shelves, see Brass Home Decor.
Looking after brass figurines
Dust them with a soft brush, as jhools and manes have deep lines. Golden pieces can be rubbed with lemon and a pinch of salt when dull. Antique and coloured pieces only need a dry cloth. Our guide on how to clean brass idols at home works for these brass animal figurines too. Each one is cast in brass and finished by hand with chisel work.
Questions buyers ask
Which brass animal is good for the main door?
An elephant pair with trunks up is the most common choice, one on each side of the door. A single trunk up elephant facing the door works too.
Can I keep these outside?
Brass can stay in a covered verandah. Rain and sun make it darker faster, so indoor places keep the shine longer.
Are these good for gifting?
Yes. A small elephant or a Kamdhenu is a common brass animal showpiece gift for a griha pravesh, a wedding or Diwali.
Are they solid brass?
They are cast in brass. Bigger pieces are heavier, so check the weight on each page before you plan where to keep it.
Pick the animal that means the most to your family, and give it a place where everyone will see it.
