Shiva Idols

Shiva murti in brass for the home mandir and Shivratri: Nataraja, Nandi, Shiva Parvati, Shiva Parivar, Adiyogi, Shivling and trishul pieces, small to big.

Shiva Murti in Brass for Home and Temple

Mahadev is prayed to in many forms, and this page brings most of them together in brass. Some families want him dancing in a ring of fire, some want him calm in meditation, and some want the whole family with Parvati Maa, Ganesh ji and Kartikeya. Pick the form your family prays to, then the size that suits your mandir.

Forms of Mahadev on this page

  • Nataraja: about 17 pieces, Shiva dancing in a ring of flames, from a small desk size to a big hall piece. See the Nataraja page.
  • Nandi: about 17 pieces, sitting and standing, to keep facing the Shivling. More on the Nandi page.
  • Shiva Parvati: about 11 pieces, some of them seated on Nandi.
  • Shiva Parivar: about 8 family sets with Ganesh and Kartikeya.
  • Shivling: small brass lingas, some with Nandi or the family around them.
  • Trishul with damru, the Adiyogi statue, Ardhanarishvara and seated Shiva with his trishul.

Most pieces are plain golden brass. A few have an antique look, and a few are in black lacquer coating.

From 2.3 inch to 47 inch

The smallest pieces, around 2.3 to 5 inch, fit a car dashboard, a study table or a travel mandir. Pieces from 6 to 12 inch suit most home mandirs. Above that, a Nataraja or a seated Shiva becomes the main murti of a pooja room or a hall, and the biggest ones, up to 47 inch, are made for temples and large homes.

Picking your Shiva

For a home where the family prays together, the Shiva Parivar or Shiva Parvati is a common choice. For a study or a yoga room, Adiyogi or a meditating Shiva feels right. For a living room or an office, the dancing Nataraja, like this 9.5 inch Nataraja, is the most loved form. If you already have a Shivling, add a Nandi that faces it.

Looking after brass

Wipe water and milk off soon after abhishek, and dry the murti fully. Clean plain brass with lemon and water once a month. For black or antique pieces, use only a soft dry cloth. Our guide on how to clean brass idols at home has the full steps.

Most families keep a calm, seated form, the Shiva Parivar or Shiva Parvati. Many people also keep a Nataraja in the living room. Choose the form you feel close to.

Yes. Many homes keep him there, and he is also loved by dancers and music students.

Where should Nandi face?

Nandi is kept facing the Shivling or the Shiva murti, as in temples.

Are these pieces solid brass?

Yes. Each one is cast in brass and then finished by hand with chisel work.

What size should I buy for Shivratri pooja at home?

A piece of 6 to 12 inch is easy to bathe, dry and place back on the mandir shelf.
